Beacon Lions FC was founded in 2010 with a vision for providing local children with good quality coaching, in a safe and fun environment, so each child could reach their full potential, not just as players but as a people, no matter their ability.
The club originally set up an under 10’s team in the 2011/12 season, with just four volunteers and 10 players. The following season we set up an under 8s team and the club has grown from there. We now offer football to over 50 local children from the age of 8 to 15 and we have over 20 adult volunteers that help run our club, with teams playing in the Stourbridge and District Youth Football League and Walsall Junior Youth League. We are also hoping to have an adult team to offer a pathway into adult football by 2018.
The club was awarded the Football Associations Charter Standard Award in April 2012 and has regained accreditation year on year since. The club is committed to this and the FA’s Respect Programme. This means that the club strives to apply best practice as seen by the FA at all times.
All our officials (unless under the age of 18) are DBS checked by the FA Safeguarding unit and have qualifications awarded by the FA including coaching and differentiation, first aid, safeguarding and child welfare. In addition the club has links with local schools, businesses and has an excellent relationship with their local FA in Birmingham. We also have links with local universities and colleges offering coaching placements to students who want to take up coaching as a profession.Interview With The Chairman
